Powder Coating Manager

Job description

The Powder Coating Manager will lead, train, and coach team members within the powder coating department. This role is responsible for overseeing operations on both the automated finishing line and stationary batch booths; key responsibilities include maintaining inventory of supplies and materials, enforcing operating procedures, optimizing labor efficiency, and ensuring consistent quality control.

Responsibilities:

• Oversee daily operations of the automated powder coating line by monitoring and managing the end-to-end operation process
• Ensure quality control and process compliance by conducting inspections and verifying proper coating thickness, adhesion, and curing.
• Maintain automation equipment by diagnosis and resolving issues with the automated system, including conveyors, curing ovens, and communicating with maintenance staff, vendors, and manufacturers to reduce downtime
• Provide efficiency by analyzing production and workflow to identify opportunities for process improvement, reduced waste, and increase productivity
• Coordinate and lead team members by supervising, training, and coaching operators and technicians for improved performance
• Maintains safety programs, including signing up for conservation programs (respirators, hearing), OSHA and EPA regulation, and safety records

Required Skills and Experience:

• Minimum 5 Years' Experience in Automated Powder Coating
• Knowledge of powder coating techniques
• Strong supervisory and people skills
• Proficient in diagnosing automation equipment including conveyor belt system
• Proficient in identifying and sourcing parts using vendor catalogs
• Maintaining production records and material logs
• Monitoring, recording, and adjusting chemical levels in pretreatment chemical cleaning system.
• Monitor and adjust dry off and curing oven temperatures using infrared (IR) equipment

Preferred but not required

• SSPC Certification
• PCI Certification
• Strong attention to detail and organization
• PLC, HMI, or other automation programming knowledge
• Ability to create or improve SOP documentation

Physical Requirements :

• Able lift up to 50 lbs.
• Able to stand, walk, sit, bend, twist, squat, reach and perform repetitive hand and finger movements
• Able work in extreme hot and cold temperatures
• Must be able to pass medical evaluations related to physical fitness, hearing, and respirator use
