Our Specialty Grocery Store and Deli is seeking an Assistant Manager to join our team! This position works closely with the General Manager to run the operations of our established, family-run store in the West End of Richmond.
Responsibilities:
- Oversee production and retail employees in daily job function;
- Ensure appropriate food handling and sanitation standards;
- Provide positive customer service experiences;
- Support, coach, and develop subordinate team members;
- Collaborate with General Manager in development and achievement of sales goals, food production, and grocery inventory;
- Manage employee schedules and time-off requests to ensure optimal efficiency;
- Research current pricing and compare different vendors for optimal purchasing;
- Provide service recovery where needed
Qualifications:
- Four years of deli, grocery, and/or retail experience, including two years in a supervisory role;
- Strong organizational and administrative skills;
- Proficiency with POS systems, and familiarity with standard accounting and inventory software;
- Excellent customer service and communication skills;
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to motivate and lead a team;
- Positive and upbeat attitude
- Vendor management experience is a strong plus
