EDB Postgres Technical Lead
Job Title: EDB Postgres Technical Lead
Location: Strong preference for candidates based in Chantilly, VA with the ability to work on-site. Remote/out-of-state applicants will also be considered.
Overview:
Strategic Business Systems is seeking a seasoned Enterprise Database Subject Matter Expert (SME) with deep expertise in EDB Postgres to join our Managed Services division . This role requires a hands-on leader who can both execute and mentor, guiding the team through best practices and upskilling efforts. Responsibilities include developing a comprehensive runbook, delivering training, and ensuring the team is fully equipped to support and optimize EDB Postgres environments. The ideal candidate brings a consultative approach with a proven track record as a trusted advisor to clients and stakeholders.
Responsibilities Include: - Coordinates technical delivery with the partner and/or end customer
- Assists in managing shift schedules, arranges for coverage or fills in for gaps due to PTO, sick time, etc.…
- Coordinate/oversee technical delivery and technical escalations
- Monitor onboarding and technical training of new team members
- Participate in weekly/biweekly governance meetings for each customer as required
- Monitor CMMC, NIST, Payment Card Industry (PCI) or other compliance as necessary
- Monthly audits to confirm knowledgebase articles are created/updated as applicable
- Create detailed runbooks to support operations and knowledge transfer
- Ensure Run Book and all other documentation is kept up to date for each customer
- Ensure the shift checklists are accurately maintained
- Ensure the onboarding checklist(s) is accurately maintained
- Create a defined escalation process and provide examples
- Develop, streamline and maintain a standard set of reports for customer and SBS Mgmt.
- Record meeting notes for all technical calls with customers, provide action items to team and ensure appropriate follow up
- Provide oversight for daily, weekly, and monthly SLA reports to Management
- Provide oversight for monthly billing reports and present to Management
- Review Monthly Operational Reports with Management
- Automate reporting to the extent possible
- Lead monthly internal team continuing Education training sessions
- Provide mentoring to less experienced team members
- Build and maintain relationships with customers
- Maintain professional communications at all times
- Support team on presales engagements
- Other duties as assigned by SBS Management
- US Citizenship required
- Proven Leadership skills with 10+ years of Postgres database experience in the IT Enterprise
- Experience training Tier 1 and Tier 2 Support Team members
- The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience creating detailed runbooks to support operations and knowledge transfer
- Results-oriented self-starter with a positive outlook and a clear focus on team success
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to prioritize and balance multiple tasks and assignments
- Proficient using Microsoft Outlook, Excel, Word and PowerPoint
- Willingness to be on call at times
- Military service a plus
