Residential Manager - Stanford Court
Residential Manager - Stanford Court - Hampton, VA - Enjoy a rewarding and challenging position with a nonprofit organization that has been helping educate, train, and provide employment opportunities for individuals with disabilities since 1955. We are currently seeking applicants for a full-time Residential Manager who will be responsible for assisting in managing the daily activities in a community setting in order to achieve the mission of providing individuals with disabilities care, skill training and assistance, supervision, and a positive living environment.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
The following duties and responsibilities represent the essential functions of this job that an individual must be able to perform with or without a reasonable accommodation:
- Assists with the coordination and completion of skill assessment and developing Individual Service Plans(ISPs)that align with the policies of DMAS and DBHDS, and adequately assess individual progress, ensure participation in valued activities based on the individual's choice, and establish a training program for self-help and community living skills
- Implements an approved behavior treatment program, including supportive counseling
- Coordinates, documents, and/or reports all necessary supportive activities related to individual services about medical, dental, psychological, financial, transportation, and day activities
- Communicates with Support Coordinators, vocational staff, and family members in working with the individual to solve problems
- Ensures WAMs approvals are submitted in a timely manner
- Records support notes as needed and ensures compliance with State certification and licensure requirements through the maintenance of individual and program records and conducting appropriate program activities
- Assists with weekly planning of healthful and appealing menus, and shopping for groceries, recording all meals served at residence
- Ensures that a safe and sanitary household is maintained for individuals, including the preparation of food with assistance from individuals
- General maintenance of house or grounds
- Provides direct support to individuals as needed
- Supervises In-Home Support personnel
- Submits all internal paperwork in a timely manner, including but not limited to reporting of hours worked for self, staff, and volunteers, submitting purchasing cash receipts, managing household expenditures, making maintenance requests, and submitting mileage logs
- Works to achieve the financial goals of the Unit by managing the budget and tracking financial performance
- Assists with chart reviews and provides training in documentation requirements for other Direct Support Professionals
- Attends all required meetings and required trainings
- Other duties as assigned Local travel may be required if the duration is no more than two weeks (at the discretion of the supervisor)

QUALIFICATIONS, EDUCATION, & EXPERIENCE:
The following qualifications represent the training, education, certifications, licensures, and/or work experience required to perform the essential duties and responsibilities successfully:
- Degree in Human Services or related field, or any combination of equivalent education and experience
- Supervisory experience preferred
- Minimum of one year of experience providing services to individuals with developmental disabilities
- Basic knowledge of industry standards of providing care and training to individuals regarding life, social skills, and behavior modification techniques, such as positive reinforcement, intermittent reinforcement, etc.
- Demonstration of sound judgement that will ensure the safety of others when assessing situations that could result in undesirable consequences and the ability to resolve them quickly while handling a variety of temperaments.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills with the ability to gather and analyze data for reports
- Capable of establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with staff, families, referral sources, and members of the community
- Ability to organize, manage, and prioritize multiple tasks and quickly adapt to changes in job routines Effective use of technology and information systems, including, but not limited to, Microsoft 365
PHYSICAL DEMANDS & WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Physical demands: Performing the duties of this job requires near visual acuity, the ability to hear, understand, and distinguish speech and/or other sounds, and gross manipulation. Additionally, the employee:
- Must be free of tuberculosis in a communicable form
- Must be able to lift and/or move up to 30 pounds
- Must be able to stand for prolonged periods of time Must be able to provide direct support services for individuals with physical and/or intellectual disabilities, which may involve crouching, stooping, or reaching at/below shoulder level and overhead
Work environment: While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be in an office or indoor setting, or externally in community settings. Indoor environmental conditions will vary according to the weather conditions prevalent at the time, and exposure to inclement weather and extreme temperature variations can be expected when in community settings. The noise level in the work environment will vary. While working with individuals with mental/physical disabilities, exposure to physical risks from behaviorally challenged individuals and contact exposure to human pathogens and/or biohazards is possible
