LPN opportunity on Medical Cardiology PCU - Part of Carilion's Cardiovascular Institute. Primarily evening/night shift, 12 hour shifts. Competitive pay, shift differentials, and benefits available.

7 Mountain is a 20 bed Medical Cardiology Progressive Care Unit within the Cardiovascular Institute (CVI). As part of CVI, our unit will be relocating to the new Crystal Spring Tower in 2025 and it is where the future home of our Cardiovascular Institute and an extension of our emergency Department will be located.

Our unit offers a unique opportunity for LPNs who are starting their nursing career and those with experience. We also provide learning opportunities for supporting the professional growth of each and every individual on our team.

The LPN Licensed Tech Inpatient participates in the nursing process to administer nursing care under the direction of the RN. Will partner with the RN in collecting data, planning and implementing patient/resident care and assist with throughput initiatives with a focus on enhancing the patient and customer experience.

Duties of the Licensed Tech Inpatient includes, but not limited to, the following:

• Responsible for obtaining and validating medication reconciliation on admission and discharge.
• Responsible for discharge focused teachings delegated by RN.
• Assist with wound care.
• Assist with safe patient ambulation.
• Role model customer service excellence and related initiatives.
• Mentor Nurse Assistants and is an active preceptor to Patient Care Techs
• Active in unit base council activities/initiatives.
• Own LOS on unit and actively participates in unit based initiatives.
• Obtaining vital signs and focused patient assessment.

What We Require:

Education: Graduate of an accredited nursing school either for practical nursing or registered nurses.

Experience: Healthcare experience preferred.

Licensure/Certification: Licensed to practice nursing LPN in the state of Virginia. Must obtain/maintain AHS BLS-HCP required. May be required to obtain/maintain AHA BLS based on specific work unit.

Other: Employee should enroll into an accredited Registered Nurse program within 15 months of hire.
