Compu Dynamics sits in the heart of one of the fastest growing data center markets in the country and is a recognized leader in that business. We are excited to be growing and have an immediate need for an Electrical Estimator in Northern Virginia.
Summary/Objective:
The Junior Estimator will support the preparation of accurate and competitive cost estimates for MEP, with focus of electrical and low voltage projects. This role requires a general understanding of the preconstruction and bidding process. The successful candidate will collaborate with the senior estimators, project managers, clients, and subcontractors to ensure estimates meet project requirements.

Project Communication & Meetings
- Attend pre-bid and post-bid meetings as needed
- Attend bid review meetings and be prepared to contribute when necessary
- Regularly attend weekly preconstruction meetings with the entire team
- Maintain an elevated level of professionalism with clients, vendors, and colleagues; work to establish positive working relationships
Document Review & Technical Analysis
- Review blueprints, technical drawings, and project specifications to assist in determining scope
- Review RFP's/Design Documents and prepare RFI's as needed
- Document all assumptions, clarifications and exclusions for incorporation into proposals
Cost Estimation & Proposal Development
- Assist with the development of cost estimates for projects
- Create project BOM (Bill of Materials) for the estimating team
- Conduct research to assess the cost of materials, labor, and equipment
- Support the preparation of bid proposals for Preconstruction team
Vendor & Subcontractor Relations
- Direct communication with vendors and subcontractors as needed
- Provide regular updates on project status to vendors and subcontractors
- Obtain quotes from suppliers and subcontractors
Documentation & Project Support
- Organize electronic files with an understanding of collaborative file management
- Provide timely and complete documentation of work performed
- Maintain accurate records of estimates, changes, and project communications
- Assist with project management tasks as needed
Competencies:
- Attention to detail
- Excellent communication skills
- Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite
- Familiarity with BlueBeam and Procore
Travel:
There will be no travel required for this role.
Supervisory Responsibility:
There are no supervisory responsibilities with this role.
Work Environment:
This job operates in both an office and field environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, copiers, etc.; it may involve exposure to potentially dangerous materials and extreme temperatures. Work is often required after normal working hours, including nights, weekends and holidays.
Physical Demands:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; sit, including as a driver or passenger of an automobile; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb stairs/ladders; talk or hear; move around at construction and other work sites; maneuver in small or tight places. The employee must occasionally lift or move office products and supplies, up to 50 pounds.
Position Type:
This is a full-time position.
Required Education and Experience:
- 2+ years of Estimating experience.
- Familiarity with estimation software and tools such as BlueBeam, Procore, and Mircosoft Office.
Preferred Education and Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in construction management, Engineering, Applied Science.
- 1+ year of MEP Estimating Experience.
- Commercial general contractor/construction experience

Compu Dynamics Pay Range
$65,000—$80,000 USD
