Financial Services Specialist I (Temporary)

Assignment Duration: 1 to 3 Months
Schedule: Monday through Friday 8:00am-4:30pm
Job Duties & Responsibilities
- Cardinal System Processing: Independently key invoices and process travel reimbursements in the Cardinal statewide payment system.
- Accounts Payable: Review and process vendor invoices, verify receipt of goods/services, and determine correct accounting codes.
- Travel Reimbursement: Coordinate travel plans, calculate costs, and process employee reimbursement requests.
- Compliance & Documentation: Ensure all financial transactions adhere to Commonwealth Accounting Policies & Procedures (CAPP).
- Record Keeping: Maintain electronic logs and files for all transactions submitted to Cardinal.
- Fiscal Support: Assist with other financial tasks, such as handling small purchase charge card transactions or reporting, as needed.
Required Qualifications & Experience
- VA State Experience: Demonstrated work experience within a Virginia State Agency.
- Cardinal Proficiency: Proven experience keying invoices and travel documents in the Cardinal system.
- Policy Knowledge: Solid understanding of Commonwealth Accounting Policies & Procedures (CAPP).
- Technical Skills: Strong proficiency in data entry with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail.
- Software: Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word).
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with Commonwealth of Virginia procurement and financial systems (e.g., eVA, Cardinal).
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
