Data Center Project Manager

The Data Center Project Manager is responsible for developing and managing high-level and low-level project plans, budgets, and execution strategies for data center projects. This role involves overseeing all aspects of project coordination, resource management, vendor negotiations, and ensuring timely delivery of IT-related deliverables. The candidate must tailor existing best practices for project and operational management while maintaining effective communication with internal IT teams, legal teams, and external vendors.

Key Responsibilities

1. Develop high-level and low-level project plans and budgets for data center projects and components.
2. Manage, coordinate, and execute assigned tasks and resources to ensure project success.
3. Tailor existing best practices for project and operational management based on project needs.
4. Communicate project status updates to IT project teams, IT departments, and key stakeholders.
5. Coordinate all project activities between internal teams, Engineering Design Team, General Contractors, and external vendors.
6. Work with internal sourcing and legal teams to negotiate lease terms.
7. Oversee and execute the RFP process to secure new vendors for project execution.
8. Manage construction of newly built-out sites, either directly or through a general contractor.
9. Ensure proper vendor management throughout the project lifecycle.
10. Develop and ensure the timely delivery of all IT-related deliverables.
11. Maintain and modify the project SharePoint site for documentation and information management.
12. Conduct local travel to data centers and offices regularly, with occasional out-of-area travel as required.

Required Qualifications

1. 5+ years of professional experience in data center project management.
2. 3+ years of experience in project coordination and task management.
3. Strong leadership and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple sites and projects simultaneously.
4. Strong understanding of construction methodologies and safety standards.
5. Experience in developing technical specifications and project documentation.
6. Proficiency in MS Office Suite, including Word, Excel, Visio, PowerPoint, SharePoint, and Project.
7. Bachelor's degree, preferably in an engineering discipline.

Preferred Qualifications

1. Basic knowledge of data center technology and service management.
2. Experience with structured cabling systems and data center best practices.
3. Understanding of logistics and vendor management in data center environments.
