UMIT Technologies – Rapid Response Team

SALARY:

$55,000 – $65,000 based on experience

LOCATION:

Richmond, VA (Hybrid – remote + client onsite)

EDUCATION:

AS or BS in IT, computer science, or related field

SUPERVISOR:

Service Manager

WORK EXPERIENCE:

2–3 years of hands-on experience in IT support, network administration, or a Managed Service Provider (MSP) environment.

This role will contribute directly to that initiative, helping standardize, deploy, and support network infrastructure across our client base while shaping the future of our networking practice.

JOB SUMMARY:The Technician II – Network Focused is a mid-level Rapid Response technician responsible for resolving Tier 1–2 support tickets, onsite client support, supporting and installing network infrastructure, leading user onboarding and platform configuration, and preventing unnecessary escalations to engineering.

This role operates daily inside an MSP-ticket-driven environment. Responsibilities range from basic end-user support to identity management, endpoint troubleshooting, network configuration, network equipment configuration/upgrades/deployment and onsite client support.

PRIMARY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:MSP Support

  • Respond to and resolve Tier 1–2 support tickets (remote and onsite).
  • Troubleshoot Windows/macOS systems, Microsoft 365, VPN, MFA, and connectivity issues.
  • Deploy and configure workstations and end-user devices.
  • Support user onboarding and workstation deployments.
  • Document work clearly in ConnectWise PSA.
  • Maintain proper ticket hygiene and documentation standards.
Identity & Platform Support

  • Manage user accounts in Microsoft 365 / Entra ID
  • Support MFA configuration and identity troubleshooting
  • Assist with licensing, end user provisioning and systems administration in various platforms
  • Support endpoint security and productivity platforms
Networking

  • Assist with deployment and support of firewalls, switches, and wireless access points.
  • Configure VLANs and switch ports.
  • Support site-to-site VPN environments.
  • Troubleshoot DHCP, DNS, and routing issues.
  • Coordinate with ISPs during outages.
  • Assist with network equipment installations onsite.
Troubleshooting Expectations

  • Identify root causes, not just symptoms.
  • Validate fundamentals (IP configuration, DNS, authentication).
  • Isolate issues across endpoint, network, and identity layers.
  • Document troubleshooting steps clearly.
  • Escalate issues only after structured diagnostic effort.
TECHNICAL COMPETENCIES
