Sentara Martha Jefferson Hospital is hiring a Registered Nurse for the Operating Room Department PeriOp course. This is a Monday to Friday day shift schedule during the 4-month training program. Followed by the Main OR Schedule. Target hire dates are 6/29 or 9/21 of 2025

Program includes: Didactic content AORN online modules Classroom discussions Policy and Procedure review and application Skills labs Clinical experiences at hiring hospital

PeriOp 101 is required for: Experienced nurses wishing to change specialties. New Graduate nurses entering into practice.

Sentara Martha Jefferson Main OR:

Performing an average of 7,000 cases each year, the Operating Room at SMJH has 8 OR suites and offers a variety of service lines including Complex GYN, Neurosurgery, Vascular/Thoracic and Orthopedic surgery. It is also the 2nd highest-performing OR in the Sentara system for Orthopedic total joint procedures.

This position offers 8- and 10-hour schedules with required call. The call schedule is 1 day per week and one weekend per month from 7P to 7A.

Education

• Degree or Diploma in Registered Nursing (required)

• Students in process of completing a Degree in Registered Nursing

• Bachelor of Science Nursing- BSN or MSN (Preferred)

Certification/Licensure

• Registered nursing License (Required)

• Students in process of completing a RN License

• ACLS required within 1 year of hire.

• PALS within 1 year of hire.

• BLS required within 90 days of hire

Experience

• None Required

• Acute Care RN experience preferred

• Manages complex cases in fast-paced environments

• Communication with patients and providers

The Registered Nursing (RN) is responsible to perform a competent level of nursing care as demonstrated by the critical thinking model known as the nursing process.
