We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Assistant Controller with a strong background in real estate accounting and financial management. The ideal candidate will support the Controller in overseeing all financial operations, ensuring compliance with GAAP, and providing strategic financial insights to support business decisions. This role requires hands-on accounting experience, a strong understanding of real estate transactions, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities:

• Assist in the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements for real estate portfolios.

• Oversee general ledger maintenance, accounts payable/receivable, cash management, and reconciliations.

• Ensure accurate accounting for real estate assets, including acquisitions, dispositions, lease administration, and property management accounting.

• Prepare and analyze budgets, forecasts, and variance reports for multiple properties or portfolios.

• Support audits, tax filings, and regulatory compliance for real estate entities.

• Develop and maintain internal controls and accounting policies in alignment with GAAP and company standards.

• Collaborate with property managers, asset managers, and finance teams to ensure timely and accurate financial reporting.

• Assist in process improvement initiatives, system implementations, and financial analysis projects.

• Mentor and supervise accounting staff as needed.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA required.

• 5+ years of accounting experience

• Strong knowledge of GAAP, real estate accounting, and property management systems.

• Proficiency in accounting software Quickbooks, Great Plains and Microsoft Dynamics.

• Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.

• Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a dynamic environment.

• Experience with audits, tax filings, and regulatory reporting in real estate is highly desirable.
