Position Overview
At Melone Hatley, P.C. our Digital Content Designers are creative storytellers and strategic communicators who elevate the firm’s digital presence across platforms with professionalism, empathy, and innovation. This role involves developing compelling content for web, email, and social media, upholding brand consistency, and aligning digital strategies with business goals and client needs.

Key Responsibilities:
Content Strategy & Creation
- Develop and execute digital content strategies that reflect the firm's voice and values, particularly in family law, estate planning, and litigation topics.
- Create, design and edit content for a variety of digital channels including website pages, blogs, email campaigns, social media, and downloadable resources.
- Focus on planning, creating, and optimizing engaging visual content for digital platforms.
- Optimize content for readability and engagement.
Graphic Design
- Design branded digital and print assets (social media posts, infographics, web graphics, email templates, print advertising, etc.).
- Create UI visuals, mockups, and digital layouts for websites or apps.
- Adhere to and evolve brand guidelines.
- Collaborate with developers to implement content on web platforms (especially if tied to UX writing or product design).
- Ensure accessibility, responsiveness, and SEO best practices.
Videography and Photography
- Responsible for end-to-end creation of video content from pre-production through editing and publishing.
- Plan, storyboard, and script video content based on campaign needs.
- Scout locations, schedule shoots, and manage gear logistics.
- Shoot high-quality footage for interviews, promos, product demos, or social media.
- Handle lighting, camera operation, and audio recording on location or in studio.
- Edit footage into polished content using tools like Adobe Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro, or DaVinci Resolve.
- Add music, sound effects, motion graphics, and captions.
- Ensure final exports meet technical specs and brand standards.
- Optimize videos for web, mobile, and social platforms.
- Upload to YouTube, Vimeo, websites, or internal CMS with proper tagging and thumbnails.
- Capture professional-quality photographs for commercial, editorial, marketing, or event purposes.
- Conduct pre-shoot planning including shot lists, location scouting, and equipment preparation.
- Set up lighting, camera angles, and backdrops for optimal results.
- Edit and retouch images using Adobe Lightroom, Photoshop, or other editing tools.
- Manage file storage, backups, and organization of digital assets.
Brand Alignment
- Maintain and evolve the firm’s brand tone and visual identity across all content types with a high degree of professionalism.
- Ensure all content is aligned with the firm's strategic messaging and core values, especially content designed to empower clients navigating difficult legal situations.
Collaboration & Communication
- Collaborate closely with attorneys, marketing leadership, and client service teams to identify content opportunities and support firm initiatives.
- Participate in creative meetings, performance reviews, and strategy discussions with a teamwork-first attitude.
- Solicit and integrate feedback respectfully and constructively to continually raise the bar.
Performance & Optimization
- Use SEO best practices and analytics tools to optimize content for visibility, performance, and client engagement.
- Track key performance metrics (KPIs), report on content effectiveness, and make accountable, data-driven decisions to improve results.
- Test and iterate on digital experiences to ensure continuous improvement.
Project Management
- Manage content calendars and project timelines efficiently, proactively identifying priorities and risks.
- Maintain clear documentation of content production processes and style guides.
- Balance multiple ongoing projects with grace, respect for deadlines, and a nurturing mindset toward learning and refinement.
Performance Expectations
- Deliver high-quality, audience-centered content on schedule with minimal revision.
- Maintain timely and professional communication with team members and stakeholders.
- Ensure consistent brand alignment across all digital assets and platforms.
- Proactively propose new content ideas or formats to increase engagement and visibility.
- Participate actively in internal team meetings and ongoing education (MHU, marketing team meetings, content meetings, social media strategy).
- Exhibit a growth mindset and a commitment to raising the bar in legal content design and storytelling.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Degree or certification in Visual Arts, Photography, Marketing or related field.
- Adobe Creative Cloud (Photoshop, Illustrator, XD), Figma, Canva, CMS (e.g. WordPress), and basic HTML/CSS.
- Premiere Pro, After Effects, Final Cut Pro, Audition, DaVinci Resolve, DSLR/mirrorless cameras, lighting kits, tripods, gimbals.
- Adobe Creative Suite (Lightroom, Photoshop, Bridge).
- Microsoft Office including Teams, Excel, Outlook, Word
- Knowledge of Social Media Platforms- Linked In, Instagram, Facebook, YouTube
- Knowledge of podcast recording platforms such as Riverside
Work Environment:
- Hybrid role (onsite/remote) based in Virginia Beach or Richmond office.
- May include on-location or studio shoots in all firm offices nationwide.
- Requires occasional travel, weekend, or evening availability.
- Must be able to carry camera gear and work in various lighting conditions.
