GROOMER JOB DESCRIPTION -

  Job description

Camp Bow Wow Virginia Beach is THE premier doggy day care and boarding facility in Hampton Roads, and we are ready to become THE premier grooming facility as well.

We are now hiring a professional groomer who is dedicated to their work and takes pride in the quality of their work. The ideal groomer is someone who is customer-obsessed (both dogs and humans) and works well independently but also in a team setting. The position is compensated by commission plus tips.

You will have input in setting the price schedule and curating our grooming services offering.

We provide all the major equipment and supplies including bathing tubs, portable dryer(s), drying cages, grooming solutions, cleaning supplies, utilities, etc.

You provide your preferred shears, scissors, etc.

Primary Responsibilities -

1. Admit pets to be groomed noting owner's specific instructions, contact information and pick up time.
2. Bathing, brushing, heavy lifting, shaving and scissor trimming.
3. Ear cleaning, plucking, nail trimming, and expression of anal glands.
4. Perform all general maintenance of grooming room; clean and disinfect cages, tubs, grooming tables daily; vacuum floor; mop floor; empty trash; clean clipper blades, scissors and brushes after use; perform monthly dryer and clipper maintenance.
5. Other tasks as deemed necessary by the General Manager

Additional Essential Skills -

1. Must have at least ONE year of current, professional grooming experience and have gone through a formal training program.

2. Ability to groom based on general breed standards and customer requests

3. Photos/portfolio of your work is required at interview

4. Ability to work independently and as a team

5. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and able to remain calm under pressure and during stressful situations

6. Able to work with a large variety of dog breeds with dogs up to 100+ lbs

7. Able to interact with customers in a warm, friendly and professional manner

8. Provides breed-specific standard grooms, and /or follow clients instructions so pets are groomed to specifications and satisfaction of the client.

9. Great scissoring skills

Requirements

1. LOVE of Dogs AND People
2. Excellent Customer Service
3. Must be authorized to work in the United States
4. Must have reliable transportation and have a track record for working your scheduled hours
5. Must have a valid driver's license

Groomer will report to the - Owner/Manager

Scheduling Availability -

Part time position to start (approximately 20-24 hrs/wk) with the ability to move up to full time as the grooming business escalates. Ability to work a defined schedule that allows pet parents to schedule in advance with confidence, including at least 2 Saturdays a month, every other Saturday is preferred.

As our professional groomer, you will NOT be responsible for basic grooming clientele (ie – baths, nail trims, ear cleaning, only customers). You will be responsible for all services, including bathing, for dogs receiving full professional grooming services.

Job Type: Part-time (to start)

Benefits:

1. Commission based compensation - 40% - 55% based on experience, % increases each year up to the maximum of 55%; plus tips
2. Discounts on Doggy Day Care and Boarding (perspective campers must meet all regular entrance requirements and pass the normal interview process)
