- Track, follow up, and resolve insurance claims to ensure timely reimbursement
- Actively work unpaid, rejected, or suspended claims and credit balances
- Research denials and submit appeals with supporting documentation
- Audit patient accounts to identify and process refunds when appropriate
- Assist patients with billing questions and insurance-related concerns
- Identify delinquent accounts and coordinate with collections staff as needed
- Stay current on insurance policy updates and communicate changes to relevant teams
- Work claims through practice management systems, clearinghouses, and carrier edits
- Collaborate with fellow account representatives to balance workloads and meet deadlines
- Maintain strict confidentiality regarding patient and financial information
- Complete required compliance education and ongoing training
- Maintain reliable attendance and punctuality
- Perform additional duties as assigned by leadership
- Minimum of 1 year of medical billing or related healthcare experience required
- Strong understanding of medical billing processes and insurance follow-up
- Excellent communication skills—written, verbal, and phone-based
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities
- Team-oriented mindset with a positive, professional attitude
- Proficiency with standard office equipment and computer systems
- Commitment to accuracy, accountability, and patient confidentiality
