We are looking for a detail-oriented Accounting Clerk to join our team in Chesapeake, Virginia. In this long-term contract role, you will play a vital part in ensuring the accuracy of daily financial transactions, supporting operational teams, and maintaining the integrity of accounting processes. This position offers an excellent opportunity to work in the dynamic retail industry while collaborating across multiple departments.
Responsibilities:• Review daily financial transactions, including sales, deposits, and register entries, to identify and correct discrepancies.
• Prepare and post journal entries to update and correct account codes in the General Ledger.
• Serve as the primary point of contact between stores, Operations, and the Accounting team to facilitate communication and resolve any discrepancies.
• Monitor incoming communications and provide guidance to stores on proper financial procedures.
• Ensure compliance with company policies and financial standards by reviewing and analyzing financial data.
• Collaborate with team members to identify and address issues impacting financial accuracy or efficiency.
• Assist in creating and maintaining documentation for financial processes and procedures.
• Support internal audits and contribute to ensuring the accuracy of financial reporting.• Proven experience in an accounting or bookkeeping role, preferably within the retail industry.
• Strong understanding of accounting principles and practices, including journal entries and ledger management.
• Proficiency in financial software and tools, with the ability to quickly learn new systems.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail to ensure accurate financial records.
• Effective communication skills to liaise with multiple teams and provide clear instructions.
• Ability to work independently while managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
• Familiarity with auditing practices and financial compliance standards.
• High level of proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other relevant office software.
