Degree in American Sign Language (ASL) Interpreting, certified ASL Interpreter credentials, and 1+ year of experience as an ASL Interpreter in educational settings. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.

An opportunity is available for a skilled Sign Language Interpreter to work full-time in an elementary school setting within the Virginia Beach area. This on-site position requires providing support to young students throughout the school year, starting as soon as possible and continuing through June 16, 2026. The caseload will focus on elementary-aged children, supporting effective communication and accessibility within the classroom.

Key Qualifications:

• Valid Virginia Quality Assurance Screening (VQAS) Level III certification
• Minimum EIPA score of 3.5, as required by the district
• Proven experience as a Sign Language Interpreter, particularly in educational settings
• Ability to work full-time onsite, 35 hours per week, with no hybrid or remote options
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills to positively engage with students and educators

Location:

• On-site within an elementary school in the Virginia Beach area of Chesapeake, VA

Responsibilities:

• Facilitate clear communication between hearing-impaired students and their teachers and peers
• Interpret spoken language into American Sign Language (ASL) and vice versa during classroom instruction and school activities
• Collaborate with school staff to ensure students receive appropriate language support
• Maintain confidentiality and professional standards in compliance with district policies and legal requirements
