This senior leadership role is responsible for overseeing transportation operations, driving market performance, optimizing fleet utilization, and delivering exceptional service to both drivers and passengers.

Key Responsibilities of a Market Director of Transportation Operations:Strategic Leadership & Operations Management

• Provide leadership and direction for all transportation operations within the Dulles market
• Develop and execute operational strategies that support business growth, service excellence, and profitability
• Oversee dispatch, fleet services, driver support, customer service, and field operations teams
• Establish and monitor key performance metrics, operational goals, and accountability measures
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives that enhance efficiency, productivity, and service delivery

Team Leadership & Workforce Development

• Lead, mentor, and develop management teams and operational staff
• Support driver recruitment, retention, engagement, and performance initiatives
• Foster a culture centered on safety, accountability, professionalism, and customer service
• Develop future leaders through coaching, training, and succession planning
• Promote communication and collaboration across departments and operational teams

Fleet Performance & Compliance

• Oversee fleet utilization, vehicle readiness, maintenance programs, and operational availability
• Ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal transportation regulations
• Strengthen safety programs and risk-management practices throughout the operation
• Monitor fleet performance metrics and implement strategies to maximize efficiency while minimizing downtime
• Ensure company policies, procedures, and service standards are consistently followed

Financial Management & Market Growth

• Partner with executive leadership to develop budgets, forecasts, and strategic business plans
• Analyze financial and operational data to identify opportunities for improved performance and profitability
• Develop initiatives that increase market share, trip volume, and operational efficiency
• Support business development efforts, contract management, and strategic partnerships
• Lead revenue-generating initiatives while maintaining high levels of customer satisfaction

Customer & Driver Experience

• Champion a customer-focused culture throughout the organization
• Establish service standards that elevate the passenger experience and strengthen brand loyalty
• Monitor customer satisfaction and implement service enhancement strategies
• Collaborate with operational teams to improve service reliability, responsiveness, and overall performance
• Ensure a positive experience for both drivers and passengers

Qualifications of a Market Director of Transportation Operations:

• 7+ years of senior leadership experience in transportation, logistics, fleet operations, mobility services, or a related industry
• Proven success managing large-scale, multi-department operations
• Strong understanding of transportation operations, fleet management, driver relations, and regulatory compliance
• Experience managing budgets, financial performance, and operational KPIs
• Exceptional leadership, coaching, and team development skills
• Strong communication, relationship-building, and stakeholder management abilities
• Strategic mindset with strong analytical and decision-making capabilities
