Construction Inspector

We value taking care of people, doing the right thing, and doing what makes sense, and we are looking for a highly motivated Construction Inspector for VDOT projects in the Bristol, VA region.

Responsibilities include:

• Providing inspection services for transportation construction projects
• Ensuring all work and materials used are in compliance with the proposal, plans, and specifications
• Performing required calculations, taking measurements, and verifying weights and volumes as needed
• Plotting and running cross sections and preparing "as builds" during progress of the project
• Perform materials testing
• Document inspected work daily

This position requires heavy lifting, working outside in a variety of conditions on a regular basis, and ability to perform work independently.

Travel to construction sites throughout the state is an essential function of this position; extended hours and overnight stays may be required. A valid driver’s license is required.

Ideal candidates will have any/all of the following:

• An associate degree or higher in construction management or related field from an accredited college or university is preferred
• At least two applicable VDOT Construction Inspection and Materials Testing certifications
• Working knowledge of VDOT standards, specifications, and material testing procedures
• Working knowledge of AASHTOWare Project and PlanGrid
