Assistant Budget Manager
This position is responsible for managing budgets including analyzing, reconciling, projecting, monitoring and reporting using accounting-based software. For College of Sciences, this position will assist the College Business Manager in overseeing and analyzing all financial activities of the college. This position will also be responsible for budget management for the Department of Mathematics and Statistics including financial reports, projections, and analysis of reports.
Knowledge, skills and abilities
Some knowledge of effective supervisory techniques. Considerable knowledge of effective customer service and problem resolution techniques. Working knowledge of GAAP including financial reports and Commonwealth of Virginia policies and procedures. Some knowledge and experience in for casting projections and analysis of financial reports and compiling data. Some knowledge of standard office procedures and records maintenance policies. Some knowledge of effective oral and written communication skills; ability to work with diverse groups of people. Efficient time management and organizational skills. Some experience using PC-based enterprise software and information systems such as Microsoft Office Suite and Banner or a comparable program. Ability to produce reports, manipulate data, and prepare correspondence. Ability to work independently, analyze and interpret and follow established policies and procedures, and to use sound judgment to make appropriate decisions.
