Operations Manager - Tradeshows
1. Manage vendor relations, logistics and operations for NRA Shows & Exhibits produced events to include, but not limited to NRA's general contractor, facilities, utilities, parking, event ticketing, Audio-Visual, IT, volunteers, shipping and trucking, independent contractors and various specialty vendors.2. Serve as the main point of contact for NRA Staff members to assist in making their presence, and vision a reality at NRA Shows & Exhibits events based on their equipment and service needs and making recommendations on layouts and logistics to ensure maximum exposure and impact for NRA programs.
3. Responsible for the development and production of event signage utilizing clear and concise verbiage and visually effective artwork focusing on directional, educational and promotional aspects of the event.
4. Assist with the seminar program for NRA's Annual Meetings & Exhibits including the development of desirable topics, finding and securing speakers and coordinating their presence, seminar times and locations in the facility.
5. Responsible for NRA's presence at SHOT Show, to include advance ordering of necessary services and equipment, oversight of installation and tear down of NRA's custom display properties and ensuring said displays are functioning properly during show hours and staff needs are being met.
6. Minimize expenses when possible, through effective negotiations and establishing relationships with vendors, staying abreast of new materials and processes and providing NRA Staff with alternate ideas and options to accomplish end goals when applicable.
7. Identify and capitalize on efficiencies and cost saving measures that may be available through existing relationships, as well as assets and contacts available throughout the Association. 8. Other duties as assigned.SCOPE: High profile with responsibility for smooth and successful implementation of NRA produced events. High visibility with divisional staff and other NRA divisions; contractors; vendors; convention center personnel; NRA members and the general public. Position functions in a fast paced, deadline oriented work environment with varied priorities, responsibilities and minimal direct supervision. Position requires the ability to lift and carry 40 lbs. of materials. National travel required up to 10%-15% of the work schedule. Some weekend work and after-hour work, Monday through Friday, required as dictated by event schedule.EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Bachelor's Degree required - Business, Operations Management or related field desired. Minimum 3 years' direct experience with event operations/coordination required. Industry training or certifications is a plus.KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES: A motivated self-starter with the ability and creativity to quickly adapt and think on your feet in a fast paced environment is essential. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail required. Strong written and oral communication skills are required. Demonstrated ability to manage time and prioritize and handle multiple projects simultaneously within set deadlines is essential. Strong computer skills and proficiency in MS Office Suite required. Proven ability to work independently or as a member of a team.
