Project Manager
Project Manager – Federal Construction
Location: Hampton Roads, VA
About the Opportunity
A growing federal contractor in the Hampton Roads area is seeking a Project Manager to oversee mechanical and general construction task orders across NAVFAC and Department of Defense installations.
Projects typically range from $2M–$15M and include HVAC system replacements, mechanical upgrades, facility renovations, and design-build work.
This role is ideal for someone who has owned projects from award through closeout and is comfortable working in a federal construction environment.
Key Responsibilities
• Manage multiple federal construction task orders simultaneously
• Develop and maintain project schedules and ensure milestone adherence
• Coordinate subcontractors, with a focus on mechanical/HVAC trades
• Track project budgets, labor, and material costs
• Prepare and manage pay applications
• Identify and manage change orders and equitable adjustments
• Manage RFIs, submittals, and project documentation
• Interface directly with Contracting Officers, CORs, and federal stakeholders
• Support project inspections, turnover, and closeout
• Coordinate with Quality Control and Safety personnel to ensure compliance
Qualifications
• 5+ years of Project Management experience in construction
• Experience with federal or DoD projects preferred
• Strong understanding of mechanical/HVAC systems
• Experience working under IDIQ, MACC, or task order contracts preferred
• Proficient in scheduling, cost control, and project coordination
