About University Counseling Services

Survivor Support Services is a unit within University Counseling Services. The mission of University Counseling Services is to support student success by providing clinical services, advocacy, recovery support, outreach, and professional training. We provide a compassionate and welcoming atmosphere that creates spaces for healing and growth. We believe that investing in staff both personally and professionally is integral to accomplishing our mission.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Provide crisis intervention and safety planning.
  • Provide education/outreach to university community.
  • Serve on various university committees.
  • Case management services.
  • Develop monthly reports for supervisor.
  • Assist survivors with obtaining accommodations for coursework, and support them through university proceedings.
  • May require working some evening hours.

Qualifications

  • Minimum: Bachelor’s degree in Social Work or related field or relevant professional experience.
  • 2 years of experience working as an advocate or related experience.
  • Experience as an advocate for survivors of sexual assault, intimate partner violence, stalking.
  • Provide immediate, confidential crisis intervention and ongoing advocacy for student survivors.
  • Partner with key campus stakeholders (Student Conduct, Residence Life, Athletics, Counseling Services, student organizations) to integrate prevention messages across the university environment.
  • Contribute to annual reports, assessment activities, and strategic planning.
  • Assist students in navigating university processes and external systems.
  • Develop, implement, and evaluate creative prevention education, evidence-informed outreach programming, and advocacy initiatives related to consent, bystander intervention, intimate partner violence (IPV), healthy relationships, stalking and sexual assault.
  • Maintain secure, accurate, and confidential records of all student interactions and services provided.
  • Excellent communication skills, oral and written; interpersonal skills; ability to work in and foster an environment of respect, professionalism and civility with diverse populations.
  • Preferred: Master’s degree in Social Work or related field.
  • Preferred: Experience working specifically within a higher education setting.
  • Preferred: Knowledge of federal compliance related to Title IX and the Clery Act.

Salary Range

$60,000 - $65,000
