PCU Registered Nurse Job Details

• Location: Richmond, VA 23298 (Virginia nursing jobs)
• Facility: Main 8 West, Medical Surgical Care Unit (28 beds, 8 progressive care beds)
• Assignment Type: Locum tenens / travel nursing contract
• Start Date: September 15, 2025
• End Date: December 15, 2025
• Duration: 13-week contract
• Shift: 3x12-hour day shifts (07:00 - 19:00)
• Hours per Week: 36
• Estimated Weekly Salary: $2020-$2070
• Patient Population: Adults and geriatrics with complex medical and surgical needs

Registered Nurse Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of recent experience as a PCU RN or Medical-Surgical Registered Nurse
• Active RN license in Virginia or compact state (or eligibility for 30-day work authorization)
• BLS and ACLS certifications required
• Experience with Epic electronic health records preferred
• Proficient in interpreting and managing dysrhythmias; telemetry nursing skills required
• BSN preferred
• Two professional nursing references required
• Willingness to float within specialty as needed

PCU Nurse Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality nursing care to adult and geriatric patients with acute gastrointestinal, cardiac, renal, hepatic, endocrine, hematological, and respiratory conditions
• Care for patients with gynecological disorders and post-surgical recovery needs
• Monitor, interpret, and respond to telemetry for progressive care beds
• Collaborate with an interdisciplinary healthcare team including physicians, case managers, pharmacists, physical and occupational therapists, and social workers
• Maintain accurate and timely documentation using Epic (preferred)
• Float within scope of practice as required to support patient care
• Participate in orientation and complete all required healthcare modules
