The Residence Inn by Marriott , located on the Virginia Beach Oceanfront, is seeking an experienced, professional operations leader for this very demanding role.
What You Will Bring to the Role: The Assistant General Manager will be responsible for assisting the General Manager in administering and managing the hotel’s operation, maintaining established costs and quality standards. The Assistant General Manager is responsible for the hotel operation in the absence of the General Manager. They will participate in total hotel management as a member of the hotel Executive Committee. How You'll Be Rewarded:

- Interviews, hires, trains and provides leadership to all associates. Conducts performance appraisals and provides feedback to the Associates. Ensures all hotel staff, including new hires, know all components/features of our brand service standards and are trained to meet service standards; develops added value customer service programs. Empowers hotel staff to deliver guest service by encouraging and rewarding responsive guest assistance.
- Analyzes financial and operation information on an ongoing basis to adjust business plans, labor requirements and operating costs. Meets or exceeds budgeted profit and margin for hotel. Ensures hotel staff is trained in financial control procedures for cash, vouchers, inventories and receivables, and that these procedures are regularly followed. Produces accurate and timely financial reports.
- Maintains guest service as the driving philosophy of the hotel.
- Personally demonstrates a commitment to guest service by responding to guest needs.
- Assist team leaders in meeting and exceeding brand service and quality goals.
- Ensure that all managers are trained for their positions to maximize service, production and efficiency
- Clearly describe, assign, and delegate responsibility and authority for the operation of the various sub-departments under his/her supervision.
- Ensures hotel standards contribute to the delivery of consistent guest service. Ensures compliance with all brand standards.
- Performs other duties as assigned to meet business objectives
- Candidates must have excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Previous hotel management experience required in Housekeeping and/or Front Office.
- Ability to read and interpret budgets and financial statements.
- Must be knowledgeable in Word, Outlook and Excel. Previous experience with hotel PMS and Time & Attendance systems.
- Preference given to candidates with branded hotel experience (i.e. IHG, Marriott, Hilton)
- Must be willing to work a varied schedule that includes: days, nights, weekends and holidays.
- Physical requirements of the position include: standing and/or walking for extended periods of time; bending, stooping, and reaching; pushing and pulling up to 100 lbs; and lifting up to 75 lbs.
