Job Summary

We are looking for an experienced and technically strong Quantum AI & Modelling & Simulation Specialist to support a NATO-focused project involving the development and assessment of Adaptive AI Simulation on Quantum (FAASQ) capabilities.

The ideal candidate should have experience in Quantum Computing, Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Modelling & Simulation, Mathematical Modelling, Optimization, Computational Science, and Algorithm Development .

The candidate will contribute to research, technical analysis, Proofs of Concept (PoCs), comparative assessments, simulation methodologies, and future technology roadmaps focused on the potential application of quantum and AI technologies to complex Modelling & Simulation problems.

Key Responsibilities

• Analyze complex Modelling & Simulation (M&S) problems and identify opportunities for quantum, AI, or hybrid computational approaches.
• Research and evaluate emerging quantum computing and AI technologies applicable to simulation and computational problems.
• Develop mathematical and computational models for complex systems and scenarios.
• Identify computational bottlenecks involving optimization, sampling, uncertainty, inference, and large-scale scenario analysis.
• Develop and evaluate Proofs of Concept (PoCs) using quantum, AI, quantum-inspired, or hybrid approaches.
• Design and test quantum-enhanced and quantum-reformulated solutions.
• Compare quantum and hybrid approaches against conventional/classical computational methods.
• Evaluate algorithms based on:

• Support development of simulation architectures and workflows incorporating emerging technologies.

• Conduct research into optimization, uncertainty quantification, statistical modelling, and computational methods.
• Develop technical documentation, research reports, presentations, assessments, and recommendations.
• Assist in identifying technology gaps, implementation challenges, risks, and future opportunities.
• Develop taxonomies and frameworks for categorizing M&S problems based on complexity and potential technology applicability.
• Support development of future M&S capability requirements and technology roadmaps .
• Conduct literature reviews and technical research covering academia, industry, cloud computing, HPC, AI, and quantum ecosystems.
• Work with technical stakeholders to understand requirements and translate them into computational and simulation solutions.
• Support testing, validation, benchmarking, and documentation of technical solutions.
• Present complex technical concepts and findings to technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Educational Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Quantum Computing, Physics, Mathematics, Engineering, Data Science, Operations Research, or a related technical field .
• Advanced degree in Quantum Computing, AI, Mathematics, Physics, Computer Science, or Engineering is preferred.

Experience

• 3-5+ years of relevant experience in Quantum Computing, AI/ML, Modelling & Simulation, Computational Science, Data Science, Optimization, or a related technical field.
• Experience in at least one of the following areas is preferred:

• Experience with Modelling & Simulation for defense, aerospace, military, security, or operational analysis.
• Experience with wargaming, scenario analysis, or decision-support systems.
• Experience with NATO, defense, government, research organizations, or international technology programs.
• Publications, research projects, patents, or academic work in quantum computing, AI, simulation, optimization, or related areas are a plus.

Work Arrangement

Remote

The position can be performed remotely from the contractor's facilities. International/NATO-related project experience is an advantage.
