Process Engineer
Greystone , a leading Tier II manufacturer in the automotive, medical, defense, and aerospace sectors, is seeking a dedicated Process Engineer for our Virginia location. Responsibilities
- Develop and implement manufacturing systems to achieve world-class productivity, efficiency, quality, and safety.
- Analyze production operations to identify improvement opportunities and implement recommended changes.
- Measure process performance using KPIs and develop data collection systems to enhance performance.
- Provide daily on-the-floor support and troubleshooting to improve manufacturing quality and efficiency.
- Serve as a technical interface for customers, focusing on new products, production improvements, and quality enhancements.
- Design mechanical aspects of automation work cells and set up robotic cells for required tasks.
- Program PLCs and design HMIs to improve operator-machine interaction.
- Troubleshoot automated machines to ensure smooth operation.
- Develop trial plans, proof of concepts, and DOE to validate process improvements.
- Maintain reports and documentation, including Automotive Sector Core Tools Documentation (FMEA, Control Plans, MSA, APQP).
- Track and report progress on critical assignments using project management tools.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- B.S. in Mechanical or Chemical Engineering.
- 2-5 years of experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Knowledge of chemistry, material science, electrical principles, machining, metallography, thermal dynamics, and quality management principles.
- Project management skills with analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Team-oriented with a drive for team success.
- Initiative and ability to multi-task.
- Working knowledge of quality tools such as Pareto Analysis, Control Plans, PPAPs, FMEA, SPC, 6 Sigma/Black Belt, Lean Manufacturing, and 5S Toyota Production Systems.
- Passion for learning automation.
- Entry-level understanding of automation processes and systems.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and MS Project.
Compensation
Compensation will be competitive and commensurate with experience.
Job Location and Conditions
- Work is performed in a manufacturing environment, conference room, and office setting.
- Involves a high-volume manufacturing environment with chemicals and manual and automated equipment.
- Adhere to safety procedures and report unsafe conditions to the supervisor.
- Some travel required for customer visits, trade shows, training events, and other plant locations.
