Job Summary:

This position is responsible for preparing patients for exams and performing obstetrical and gynecologic ultrasound exams in accordance with physician's orders. The Ultrasonographer will prepare images and reports of the examinations/results in a timely, accurate manner to facilitate diagnosis and ensure quality patient care. Services are provided to outpatients and/or inpatients.

Essential Functions & Responsibilities:

• Performs specialized obstetric, fetal, and gynecologic diagnostic ultrasound examinations to detect fetal anomalies, evaluate fetal anatomy, and identify gynecologic anomalies.
• Assists physicians in invasive diagnostic or surgical procedures.
• Provides patient support and education during ultrasound exams.
• Performs fetal monitoring tests, including biophysical profiles and vascular studies, on indicated patients.
• Follows established AIUM and ACOG guidelines, performing and documenting images to provide comprehensive views for accurate interpretation.
• Facilitates communication between patients and physicians.
• Maintains supplies necessary for diagnostic and surgical procedures.
• Attends ultrasound seminars annually to maintain continuing medical education credits.
• Maintains active certification with the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers.
• Stays current with OB/GYN literature through professional journals and books.
• Orders medical supplies to ensure sufficient inventory.
• Assists administrative staff with patient scheduling and non-routine referrals.
• Communicates effectively with patients and families, providing supportive care in stressful situations.
• Ensures examination rooms and equipment are cleaned daily and prepared for procedures.
• Adheres to aseptic techniques during procedures.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

• Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (RDMS) in OB.
• At least one year of experience operating GE or similar ultrasound machines.
• Experience with ultrasound reporting software such as Viewpoint or similar EHR and PACS systems.
• Minimum of 2 years of OB/GYN ultrasound experience in a practice or high-risk OB/MFM environment preferred.
• In-depth knowledge of female/maternal and fetal physiology and anatomy.
