This Opportunity:
The Laboratory Assistant will be a vital member of the treatment team. They will support the LVTs and Doctors by facilitating the processing of in-house diagnostic testing, preparing samples, coordinating sample transportation, and the communication of results. They are pivotal in ensuring pet health in our practice.

Reporting and Supervision:
This position reports to the Patient Care Manager
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
- Collect and process lab samples to be sent out.
- Process in-house lab samples and enter results into computer database.
- Utilize laboratory equipment to make microscope slides.
- Oversee lab records and practice management software to ensure all clients are called with lab results.
- Update medical records through the Electronic Medical Record (Cornerstone)
- Review and call back nurse line messages from clients.
- Maintain cleanliness of workspace and equipment. Ensure hospital protocols are followed to maintain high standards of care.
- Assisting with duties in pharmacy and treatment as requested by your supervisor.

Key Competencies Required:
- Availability to work weekends and all major holidays.
- Reliable transportation to and from work.
- Ability to lift a minimum of 30lbs; work involves continual walking and standing throughout shift; physical demands include walking, standing, bending, reaching, stooping, and kneeling.
- Must be at least 18 years or older; high school level education or equivalent.
- Must be authorized to work in the United States.
Previous Work Experience:
- Animal Hospital, any position: 6 months (Required)
- Veterinary Lab Experience: 6 months (Preferred), will train the right candidate.
- Veterinary Assistant Experience: 1 year (Preferred)
- Customer Service: 1 year (Preferred)
Job Type:
Full-time
Schedule/Availability:
- Full time employees are scheduled to work 12 hours shifts: averaging 30 to 40 hours per week.
- Part time employees are scheduled 4-to-8-hour shifts, averaging less than 30 hours per week.
- Weekend and holiday availability is required.
- Columbia Pike Animal Hospital :
- Full Time Availability between 6:00am to 10:00pm* Monday through Sunday
- Overnight Full Time Availability between 8:00pm to 8:00am
