Opportunity:

RN - Stepdown

Job Details:

• Work night shifts in a 12-bed neuroscience stepdown unit utilizing critical care and neuroscience principles
• 13-week assignment with 1:3 patient ratio
• Every other weekend and every other holiday schedule required
• 24 hours of orientation provided
• Care for patients transferring from Neuro ICU including neuro trauma, subarachnoid hemorrhage, intraventricular or intracerebral hemorrhage cases
• Manage ENT cancer patients post-tumor resection and flap reconstruction
• Provide care for post-operative spine patients and various neurological conditions
• Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIH stroke scale
• Must have Epic charting system experience
• 2 years of nursing experience required
• Must adhere to facility float policy within scope of practice
• Up to 40 hours of approved time off available per contract
• BSN preferred
• Must have Virginia license in-hand by Wednesday before start date
• Care for adolescents, adults, and geriatric patients
• Work with interdisciplinary team including IV teams, physical therapy, respiratory services, and rapid response teams

Facility:

This academic medical center operates a specialized 12-bed neuroscience stepdown unit that bridges the gap between intensive care and general medical floors. The facility provides comprehensive neurological care with advanced monitoring capabilities and specializes in treating complex neurosurgical and neurological conditions. The unit maintains a daily census of approximately 10 patients and offers extensive interdisciplinary support services including specialized teams for various aspects of patient care.
