Job Title: Street Outreach Worker

Location: Alexandria, VA

Duration: 1–3 Months (Contract)

Work Setting: 100% On-Site | Field-Based

Position Overview

"Navitas Partners, LLC" is seeking Street Outreach Worker for an exciting job in Alexandria, VA.

Responsibilities

• Deliver strengths-based case management for individuals pursuing permanent housing.

• Assist clients with housing applications and help address barriers to housing stability.

• Conduct outreach in community locations such as streets, encampments, hospitals, jails, and public areas.

• Support drop-in center operations on a rotating schedule alongside shelter case management staff.

• Maintain accurate case documentation and data entry using the Homeless Management Information System (HMIS).

Work Environment & Schedule

• Field-based role; majority of work occurs outside of an office setting (on foot or via agency vehicle).

• Strictly on-site — not eligible for remote or hybrid work.

• Full-time schedule, 8-hour shifts between 8:00 AM – 7:00 PM , based on program needs.

• Overtime may be required as needed.

• Driving required as part of daily responsibilities.

Required Skills & Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of experience working with individuals experiencing homelessness.

• Background working with populations facing behavioral health disorders and/or substance dependence.

• Strong ability to engage individuals in non-traditional settings (encampments, streets, hospitals, jails, etc.).

• Proficient in crisis intervention and counseling techniques.

• Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.

• Basic computer proficiency and experience with HMIS or similar data systems.

• Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Psychology, Human Services, or a related field.

Preferred Qualifications

• Prior experience in street outreach, case management, or direct homeless services.
