Junior Cloud Applications Engineer
BLN24 is an award-winning Management Consulting Firm that supports the U.S. Federal Government in successfully achieving their mission and goals. Our service and solutions delivery start with understanding each client’s end-state, and then seamlessly integrating within each Agency’s organization to improve and enhance strategic and technical operations and deployments. Job Description:
This position offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in cloud engineering and application modernization efforts that directly impact NOAA’s mission-critical weather systems. Working under the guidance of senior engineers, this junior-level role will contribute to application refactoring, optimization, testing, and deployment efforts within the AWS cloud. This is an ideal opportunity for early-career professionals looking to grow their expertise in federal cloud engineering and gain exposure to large-scale system transformation initiatives. Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in refactoring and developing applications to ensure AWS cloud compatibility.
- Support integration testing, system validation, and application troubleshooting.
- Document technical workflows, deployment configurations, and user support guides.
- Collaborate in Agile teams, attending standups, backlog grooming, and sprint reviews.
- Provide technical support during application go-live events and team training sessions.
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or related field (or equivalent hands-on experience).
- 1–3 years of experience in software development or cloud operations.
- Familiarity with AWS fundamentals and core services (EC2, S3, Lambda, VPC).
- Strong analytical thinking, problem-solving, and collaboration skills.
- AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner or equivalent credential.
- Exposure to DevOps tools such as Jenkins, Git, and Terraform.
- Experience with scripting languages such as Python, Bash, or PowerShell.
- Understanding of basic networking, security groups, and IAM in AWS.
- Enthusiastic learner with a passion for cloud technologies and continuous improvement.
- Ability to follow technical guidance while working independently on assigned tasks.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Detail-oriented with solid documentation and organizational practices.
