The Council on Social Work Education (CSWE) is seeking a  Director of the Minority Fellowship Program (MFP) to lead this nationally recognized initiative that supports students pursuing graduate degrees in social work who are interested in advancing the quality of mental health and substance use disorder prevention and treatment services and improving behavioral health care outcomes.

Job Description



The Council on Social Work Education (CSWE) Minority Fellowship Program (MFP), funded by the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, supports students pursuing graduate degrees in social work who are interested in advancing the quality of mental health and substance use disorder prevention and treatment services and improving behavioral health care outcomes.

The MFP program’s masters and doctoral fellowships involve recruitment outreach; stakeholder and pipeline development; application, review and selection of program recipients; mentoring, training and support to fellowship recipients; and ongoing communication with current and alumni fellows.

The Director of MFP provides academic and programmatic leadership and direction on the recruitment and retention of applicants and participating colleges and universities; review and analyze research data relevant to the program and its participants; serve as a leader in facilitating meetings; and take a leadership role with developing and disseminating project materials, grant proposals and reports.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Works closely with CSWE’s President & CEO and Vice President of Education to integrate the work of the Minority Fellowship Program into the overall strategic plan of the organization.
  • Represent CSWE MFP at all internal and external meetings where a presence is required.
  • Participates in all training of fellows and develops project and training materials for conference and meeting presentations.
  • Provides professional mentoring to all fellows.
  • Guide strategic planning and evaluation of essential programmatic functions (e.g., MFP trainings, alumni and fellow surveys)
  • Participates in marketing the master’s and doctoral fellowships to colleges, universities and students.
  • Identifies funding sources and prepares grants and contracts in an effort to secure and maintain program funding.
  • Develops project and training materials for conference and meeting presentations.
  • Oversees the development of online services and other communication media that will cover topics of interest to fellows such as program expectations and behavioral health issues.
  • Directs various program activities related to project goals and objectives.
  • Provides leadership and guidance to MFP staff providing support to the Program.
  • Performs other duties as assigned and directed.

Qualifications



QUALIFICATIONS

, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS

  • Doctorate (PhD or DSW) in Social Work required .
  • At least 2 years of social work practice experience preferably in a behavioral health setting and at least 4 years of experience in an academic institution required.
  • Understanding of issues affecting the social work education community, including issues related to student recruitment, retention, and mentoring preferred. Prior MFP fellow with supervisory and mentoring experience preferred.
  • Excellent oral and written communications skills including demonstrated presentation skills.
  • Demonstrated networking and coalition building skills including the ability to communicate issues of importance to the Minority Fellowship Program and its participants
  • Experience with writing grants and preparing proposals.
  • Demonstrated ability to multi-task, work independently while remaining highly organized also required.
  • Demonstrated computer skills including proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.

COMPENSATION
• The salary range for this position is commensurate with experience ($110,000-$120,000 annually ).

ADA SPECIFICATIONS

  • This position is mainly sedentary and requires regular use of office equipment.
  • Occasional travel in US is necessary.
  • May require moving of up to 25lbs related to program materials.
