Program Assistant for Youth, Young Adults, Young Families
POSITION SUMMARY
The Basilica of Saint Mary is seeking a part-time Program Assistant to support the parish's ministries to middle school students, high school students, young adults, young families, and engaged couples. Working closely with parish clergy, the Director of Ministries to the Youth, Young Adults, and Young Families, and ministry leaders, the Program Assistant assists with ministry operations, communications, event logistics, digital evangelization, volunteer coordination, and administrative support in accordance with the mission of The Basilica of Saint Mary and the Diocese of Arlington. This role is ideal for someone who desires to support vibrant Catholic ministry through strong organization, hospitality, communication, and service. The Program Assistant plays an important role in helping young people, young adults, young families, and engaged couples encounter Christ and become more deeply connected to parish life. This position offers meaningful involvement in parish ministry while maintaining a flexible part-time schedule.PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Assist with ministry calendars, registrations, records, scheduling, and administrative coordination
- Support communications including bulletin submissions, Flocknote messaging, webpages, registrations, and promotional materials
- Assist with social media and digital outreach for Youth, Young Adult, Young Family, and Marriage ministries
- Help coordinate retreats, seminars, service projects, parish gatherings, and ministry events
- Provide logistical support including setup, hospitality, registration, volunteer coordination, and cleanup
- Support the parish's Prepare to Serve marriage formation program through seminar coordination, participant communication, hospitality, and record keeping
QUALIFICATIONS
- Practicing Catholic who supports the mission and teachings of the Catholic Church
- Strong organizational, administrative, and communication skills
- Ability to manage multiple responsibilities in a collaborative ministry environment
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, email platforms, social media, and basic website management
- Interest or experience in parish ministry, evangelization, communications, or event coordination preferred
- Bachelor's degree preferred or equivalent experience
POSITION REQUIREMENTS
- Compliance with Diocese of Arlington child protection and safe environment requirements
- Availability to work evenings and weekends when needed.
