Respiratory Therapist Job Details

• Location: Richmond, VA 23298 (Virginia healthcare jobs)
• Assignment Length: 13 weeks (September 2, 2025 – December 2, 2025)
• Setting: Hospital – Respiratory Care Services (NICU, PICU, Pediatric Acute Care)
• Shift: Night shift, 3x12-hour shifts per week (19:00 – 07:00)
• Hours per Week: 36
• Estimated Weekly Salary: $2130–$2190
• Unit accepts first-time travelers

Registered Respiratory Therapist Qualifications

• Minimum 1 year of recent RRT experience (2 years preferred)
• Active Registered Respiratory Therapist certification
• Valid Virginia or compact state respiratory therapist license (or eligibility for 30-day work authorization)
• BLS, NRP, and PALS certifications required
• Experience with Epic charting system preferred
• Clinical experience in NICU, PICU, and Pediatric Acute Care preferred
• Proficiency with ventilators (required: Servo I; preferred: Puritan Bennett)
• Ability to float within scope as needed
• Two professional references required

Respiratory Therapist Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality respiratory care to neonates, infants, pediatrics, and adolescents
• Participate in high-risk deliveries and external transports (with competency assessment)
• Utilize advanced respiratory therapy modalities and equipment, including HFOV, HFJV, heliox, and high-flow nasal cannula
• Perform ABG interpretation, intubation assistance, extubation, and airway management
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams in a Level 1 trauma center environment
• Document patient care using the Epic charting system
• Maintain compliance with hospital policies, including natural nail policy
• Complete required orientation and modules during onboarding
