NDT Surveillance Inspector

Howmet Aerospace is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Quality Assurance Inspector III to support our Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) operations at our Hampton, VA location. This role is designed to train alongside a certified NDT Method Level III, with the goal of becoming a Level III and maintaining the assigned NDT program to ensure compliance with applicable codes, standards, and contractual requirements. The successful candidate will support and eventually lead in NDT technical functions across multiple inspection methods, including Fluorescent Penetrant Inspection (FPI), Visual, Ultrasonic and Radiographic.
What will you do in this role?
Support implementation and maintenance of NDT programs for assigned methods at the Hampton facility.
Interpret industry codes, standards, customer specifications and contractual documents related to NDT processes.
Provide technical support in problem-solving and NDT process improvement initiatives while evaluating and helping to implement new NDT technologies and inspection methods to improve efficiency, reduce costs and enhancing inspection reliability.
Ensure documentation and records are maintained in compliance with customer specifications and Howmet Aerospace standards.
Assist in customer inspections, audits and procedural development to ensure specification compliance.
What does it take to be successful in this role?
High School Diploma or GED
Minimum of 5 years of NDT experience or 3 years as a certified Level II in one or more NDT methods: FPI, Visual, Grain, Ultrasonic or Radiographic Inspection
Documented training and certification aligned with ASNT and/or NAS410
Excellent communication skills and the ability to work with multiple departments on NDT issues.
Ability to write reports and present to teams and customers. Proficiency in Microsoft Office, OCHAMS and IPC software systems preferred.
Strong technical knowledge in NDT techniques and inspection standards.
Effective problem solving and decision-making skills.
Strong organizational and documentation skills.
Able to work independently with minimal supervision.
Comfortable training and mentoring junior inspectors and colleagues.
Must pass Howmet’s required certification exams with a composite score of 80% or higher (renewable every five years).
