Job Requirements / Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license (state license required prior to start)
• BLS Certification (required prior to first shift)
• ACLS Certification (required prior to first shift)
• Minimum of 2 years bedside clinical experience (PCU, Critical Care, Step-Down, or similar)
• Experience in PCU, Critical Care, or Step-Down units preferred—LTAC or progressive care experience a plus
• Strong clinical assessment, documentation, and patient education skills
• Travel nursing experience is a plus but not required

Responsibilities

• Perform comprehensive nursing assessments within 8 hours of patient admission and develop individualized care plans
• Provide direct patient care using the nursing process in an LTAC setting—critical care and step-down skills applicable
• Collaborate with patients, families, and interdisciplinary teams to identify teaching needs and establish care goals
• Document assessments, interventions, and patient responses accurately and in a timely manner to maintain continuity of care
• Participate in patient rehabilitation programs and contribute to recovery-focused care plans
• Initiate discharge planning and patient education from day of admission to support safe transitions of care
• Communicate changes in patient status to care team members to ensure patient safety and effective care coordination
• Supervise and provide direction to ancillary nursing personnel and assistive staff
• Promote and maintain a safe environment for patients and staff, adhering to all safety policies and procedures
• Contribute positively to team building and a supportive work environment; assume charge nurse responsibilities as needed following orientation
• Engage in ongoing professional development and continuing education relevant to LTAC and critical care nursing
