Project Safety Manager – Heavy Civil Construction

Location: Woodford, VA

Project Duration: Approximately 4 months

Start Date: Late January

Compensation: $55-60/hour + per diem

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Project Safety Manager to support a heavy civil construction project in Woodford, Virginia . The project scope includes pile driving for foundations and other related heavy civil activities. The Safety Manager will be responsible for implementing, monitoring, and enforcing all safety policies and procedures to ensure compliance with company standards and applicable regulations throughout the duration of the project.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and enforce site-specific safety plans and procedures
• Ensure compliance with OSHA, state, and local safety regulations
• Conduct daily site safety inspections and hazard assessments
• Oversee safety aspects of pile driving operations and heavy equipment activities
• Lead safety orientations, toolbox talks, and training sessions
• Investigate incidents, near misses, and unsafe conditions; prepare reports and corrective actions
• Serve as the primary safety point of contact for project management, subcontractors, and field crews
• Maintain accurate safety documentation, logs, and reports
• Promote a proactive safety culture on the jobsite

Qualifications

• Minimum 5+ years of construction safety experience, preferably in heavy civil construction
• Prior experience with pile driving operations strongly preferred
• In-depth knowledge of OSHA regulations and construction safety best practices
• OSHA 30 required (OSHA 500 or equivalent a plus)
• Strong communication and leadership skills
• Ability to work independently and enforce safety standards consistently
• First Aid/CPR certification preferred

Work Schedule & Compensation

• Full-time, project-based role (approximately 4 months)
• Pay rate around $55-60/hour , commensurate with experience
• Per diem provided
• Travel or local candidates welcome
