Description

Grill Cook – Ignite Joy in Every Bite at VMRC!

As a Grill Cook in our Main Street Cafe, you'll craft mouthwatering meals that warm hearts and spark smiles among residents who've built their own legacies. Imagine the quiet satisfaction of plating a perfectly seared steak, knowing it's fueling stories shared over sunset views. Your grill isn't just a station, it's the sizzle behind cherished moments. Feel that pull? It's the rhythm of belonging calling you home.

What You'll Do: Master the Flame, Create Lasting Impressions

In this dynamic role, you'll lead the grill station with flair, turning fresh ingredients into culinary delights that delight our diverse community. Responsibilities include:

- Slicing, seasoning, grilling, and plating meats, veggies, and seafood to perfection—tailored to residents' favorites for that personal touch.

- Collaborating seamlessly with our kitchen team and servers to ensure timely, flawless service during breakfast rushes, lunch peaks, and dinner hours.

- Maintaining impeccable hygiene and safety standards, and tracking inventory.

- Wrapping shifts with a spotless station, ready to welcome the next team members or residents..

Your hands-on expertise will transform routine meals into rituals of joy, where every flip of the spatula echoes the warmth of our Anabaptist-rooted values: service that nourishes body and soul.

What We're Looking For: Passion That Heats Up the Team

We're seeking a grill maestro who's as steady under pressure as a well-seasoned cast iron—ready to stand tall for shifts that flex with life's rhythm (including weekends and evenings).

Ideal candidates bring:

- High school diploma or equivalent, plus 1+ years of grilling or line cook experience in a fast-paced kitchen (we'll train the rest).

- Deep knowledge of food safety, portion control, and safe handling—certifications a plus, but your intuitive flair seals the deal.

- Multitasking magic: organizational skills to juggle orders, a team spirit that syncs with our 14-language, 13-ethnicity crew, and the stamina to thrive in our inclusive, empathy-driven vibe.

- A genuine love for creating—bonus if you've got a knack for senior-focused menus that blend comfort with creativity.

No culinary degree required; just bring your fire for food and people. Spots like this fill as fast as a summer grill—don't let yours cool off.

The starting base rate of pay is $15.75 - $20.27, based on previous experiences and qualifications.
