for 1 East Ortho Spine Bariatrics Unit.
This is a Full Time, third shift position in Suffolk, VA.

7P to 7A with rotating weekend schedule.
About the Unit:
1 East Surgery Unit
is a 24-bed unit specializing in orthopedics, spine, and bariatrics, designed to provide high-quality, short-stay care. The team also sees high acuity surgical patients from Endoscopy, General surgery and GI. Average patient stay is 1 to 2 days. The RN staff can expect a 1:5 or 1:6 ratio and can expect an average of 6 to 8 patient discharges per shift. It is a well-staffed, fast-paced environment that values ongoing staff development through a comprehensive orientation program, where managers and educators meet biweekly to refine learning strategies and enhance clinical skills. This makes 1 East Surgery an excellent environment for both experienced Registered Nurses and new graduates eager to build their expertise. The team is supported by Patient Care Technicians (PCTs) who assist with 8 to 12 patients and assist with ambulation, labs, and other patient care tasks, ensuring seamless patient support. The presence of dedicated Unit Coordinators and experienced preceptors fosters a nurturing learning environment, making it an ideal place for skill development, professional growth, and long-term career advancement for those committed to excellence in surgical and orthopedic patient care.

The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) functions under the supervision of an RN or Licensed Independent Practitioner (LIP) in the clinical setting, within the scope of practice dictated by the State Boards of Nursing. The LPN demonstrates professional and clinical knowledge relative to designated clinical practice setting in the delivery of direct patient care, adhering to the level of verified competency dictated by the site specific program. The LPN works as part of a multi-disciplinary team to support and communicate effectively with other licensed independent practitioners (Physicians, NP, PA) in collaboration while providing care and treatment for patients, clinical support and teaching for patient and family members, and adheres to the legal and ethical standards of nursing practice. LPN manages responsibilities of workload with accuracy, provides excellence in customer service, performs testing, medication administration and the implementation of nursing interventions and care plans to support a holistic approach to patient care. The LPN serves as patient advocate in the prevention of illness or disease.
Education
Trade School Graduate of a Licensed Practical Nursing Program (Required)
Certification/Licensure
Licensed Practical Nurse in the state of practice
BLS within 90 days of hire
Experience
Acute care nursing experience preferred
Background in Stroke or Telemetry preferred
