CDL‑B Flatbed Delivery Specialist (Truck‑Mounted Forklift/Moffett)

The Viking Group
Richmond, VA

Protect Communities While You Drive

Viking designs and delivers fire protection solutions that help safeguard people and property worldwide. With a century-plus legacy built on innovation, integrity, and an uncompromising focus on safety, we offer meaningful work where ideas are valued and growth is encouraged.

What a Day Looks Like

You begin with a thorough pre‑trip inspection, secure the load, and review your route to customer shops and active jobsites. On site, you evaluate conditions, unload safely using a Moffett (truck‑mounted forklift), boom crane, or other equipment as needed, obtain delivery confirmations, and keep accurate DOT logs. Back at the branch, you stage outbound materials, prep crates and boxes, and load pipe and components for the next run—all while following company procedures and DOT requirements.

Core Responsibilities

  • Load, secure, and drive company vehicles in line with licensing and DOT rules.
  • Follow maps or written directions to reach customer shops and jobsites.
  • Assess jobsite conditions to ensure safe unloading every time.
  • Capture valid signatures on delivery paperwork and maintain documentation.
  • Operate a boom crane or other truck‑mounted equipment as needed; truck‑mounted forklift/Moffett use may be required.
  • Complete daily vehicle inspections and maintain driver logs.
  • Remain flexible for early mornings, nights, or weekend deliveries when needed.
  • Lift and stage boxes into appropriate containers for shipment.
  • Use available equipment to prep crates/boxes and to load/unload pipe and materials from flatbed and box trailers.
  • Adhere to all company policies and procedures.
  • Support additional tasks assigned by the warehouse lead, fabrication manager, or branch operations manager.

What You Bring

  • Active CDL‑B plus relevant equipment certifications (e.g., crane, industrial truck).
  • At least 6 months of prior commercial driving experience.
  • Comfort with basic keypad/keyboard input; familiarity with RF/barcoding tools is a plus.
  • 1+ year succeeding in a fast‑paced, multitask setting under time constraints.
  • Solid arithmetic using whole numbers and decimals.
  • Experience with truck‑mounted forklifts (Moffett or similar) preferred.
