Dean of Institutional Excellence . Reporting directly to the President, this leadership role will support the essential planning function of the college with data, evaluation and reports to support essential college decision-making. As official SACSCOC liaison, the dean will assist the college in meeting all accreditation requirements and institute improvements suggested by appropriate research. The ideal candidate will be a responsive, analytical, and resourceful leader with a hands-on approach.
This critical role will work with college committees and other faculty and staff to conduct research and ensure appropriate data and statistical information are available to support institutional goals and improve student outcomes. This will be accomplished through data exploration, analysis, interviews, surveys, web and institutional research and data programming. This position will be responsible for all Virginia Community College System (VCCS) and SCHEV reporting. The incumbent will also support college personnel in the in the development and implementation of instruments to assess student outcomes. With the President, this position will lead the development of the College’s strategic plan. Lastly, this role will also act as the expert SACSCOC college accreditation liaison.

KSA's/Required Qualifications - Master’s degree in a related field
- Considerable experience conducting and using research in a higher education setting
- Strong research skills, including data exploration, analysis, facilitating interviews, conducting surveys, web research, and database programming
- Ability to provide clear and concise written and oral analyses of results to various audiences within and external to the college
- Ability to conduct planning and analysis in a complex environment
- Demonstrated ability to hold others accountable for results
- Ability to choose effectively among courses of alternative actions by making clear decisions based on logic and facts
- Demonstrated commitment to academic and institutional excellence and student success
