POSITION SUMMARY

Coordinate and expedite flow of materials and parts within or between production areas according to production schedule and/or demand. Maintain in stock material and inventory levels.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Verify type, quantity, availability of stock and arrange for delivery, or distribution to expedite flow of materials to meet production schedule.
2. Confer with responsible parties to determine required delivery dates of parts and materials and keep parties informed of material status.
3. Records and maintains government furnished material (GFM) and customer furnished material (CFM) inventory received, stored, and distributed.
4. Collaborate with Purchasing department and drivers to expedite transfer of materials from lock up areas to production areas.
5. Examine material received to verify conformance to specifications, including but not limited to part number, damage or unmarked parts.
6. Complete non-conformance reports as required.
7. Tags, labels and stages materials and parts when necessary.
8. May create reports and/or maintain documentation on materials.
9. Demonstrates ability to appear for work on time, follow directions from supervisor, interact well with co-workers, understand and follow work rules and procedures, comply with corporate policies, goals and objectives, accept constructive feedback, establish goals and objectives, and exhibit initiative and commitment.
10. Other duties as assigned, requested or needed.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS

Education and Experience:

• High School diploma or GED certificate or equivalent education and experience.
• A minimum of 2 years of Material Control/Logistics experience.
• Knowledge of Ship’s systems and Government Standards/Specifications.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

• Working knowledge of shipyard, maritime, preferred.
• Working knowledge of Navy ship repair processes and procedures preferred.
• Ability to listen and understand.
• Knowledge NAVSEA standard items, Joint Fleet Maintenance Manual, NAVSHIPS Tech Manuals, Department of Defense standards, standards, and military specifications a plus.
• Ability to work at a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
• Ability and tolerance to meet due dates and deadlines and/or time constraints.
• Ability to evaluate and analyze departmental and industry trends.
• Knowledge of and ability to utilize Microsoft office applications.
• Ability to resolve complaints and negotiate with others.

PHYSICAL AND ENVIRONMENTAL DEMANDS

Office position in a production environment may be exposed to noise levels, dust and/or grime. Must wear appropriate personal protective equipment when required. Office environment with computers, printers, typing and normal conversation.
