Transportation Supervisor opportunity with a family-owned regional company who has been growing successfully since 1934. Candidate must have the ability to communicate with all levels of management, manage and support delivery teams, be safety conscious and committed to maintaining our safe workplace. This is a 2nd shift position with an extraordinary opportunity for career advancement and personal development.
Ideal candidate will have attention to detail, customer service experience, handle repetitive lifting, high energy level; be highly productive, independent, professional, dependable, motivated; and have responsibility for inventory replacement, meeting sales goals, vehicle maintenance responsibility. Supervisory experience required.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Scheduling and dispatching drivers to customer locations according to predetermined schedules, customer requests or immediate needs
Speaking with plant management or customers to resolve problems, requests for services or equipment
Preparing daily work such as schedules, loads, paperwork, etc...
Keeping and organizing work requests, customer requestions and expenses
Ensure timely arrival to customer locations on schedule and on-site tasks are completed to customer expectations
Upkeep driver manual, which outlines driver's procedures
Research and plan for traffic, construction and weather delays
Fleet upkeep for both exterior and interior of company vehicles
Maintaining needed documentation: daily trip logs (electronic), driver pickup and delivery manifests, safety/accident, fuel logs, mileage records and repair records are up to date
Safety and driver awareness training and conduct driver ride alongs to assess safe driving practices
Address delivery issues that may occur at the plant, in transit and at the customers
Ensure proper staffing levels are maintained to meet our customer requirements
Ensure driving team maintains a level of professionalism at all times with our customers
Assess work performance of their drivers and identifying areas that need improvement
Training and onboarding new hires to make sure they understand their roles and company procedures
Interact with clients professionally at all times
Cover driver vacations
Using telephones, email or text messages to contact employees
Assist with special projects as needed
QUALIFICATIONS
Must have strong communication skills, verbal and written
Must be able to load, push, pull, and lift up to 50 pounds
Must be able to pass the required drug test and background checks
Must have an excellent driving record
Must have a valid drivers license - Preferably a CDL B
