Job Description
Join our team as a Mold Assembler on the 2nd Shift and play a vital role in the assembly of polymer cores and metal end fittings. Your expertise will ensure each insulator meets stringent mechanical and electrical performance standards. This hands-on position requires proficiency in hydraulic or pneumatic crimping tools and a keen ability to adhere to precise pressure specifications for every crimp.
Responsibilities
- Assemble polymer insulator components according to detailed work instructions, drawings, and quality standards.
- Operate hydraulic and pneumatic crimping equipment to attach metal end fittings to polymer rods.
- Set, verify, and follow precise pressure and force specifications for each crimping operation.
- Inspect crimped assemblies for proper depth, alignment, bonding, and structural integrity.
- Support polymer molding, curing, and material preparation processes as needed.
- Use measurement tools such as calipers, gauges, and micrometers to confirm dimensional accuracy.
- Follow all safety procedures, including PPE, equipment handling, and lockout/tagout.
- Communicate defects, equipment issues, or material shortages promptly to supervision.
- Participate in continuous improvement efforts and team-based problem solving.
- Experience in production and mechanical assembly.
- Proficiency with hand and power tools.
- Skill in hydraulic and pneumatic crimping tools.
- Ability to follow detailed work instructions and quality standards.
- Familiarity with crimping tools (manual or powered) and pneumatic crimping tools with adjustable pressure.
- Experience with torque wrenches and torque-controlled tools.
- Competence in using calipers, micrometers, and depth gauges for dimensional checks.
- Ability to use go/no-go gauges for verifying crimp tolerances.
- Skill in using cutting tools like cable cutters, trimming tools, and utility knives.
- Proficiency in hand tools such as pliers, screwdrivers, wrenches, and mallets.
- Experience with measurement and inspection tools used in ISO-controlled environments.

Work Environment
Work the 2nd Shift from 3pm to 11:15pm in a fast-paced, hands-on manufacturing environment. The facility is non-climate-controlled, with temperatures becoming very hot during the summer months. Employees are encouraged to keep water at their workstations to stay hydrated throughout the shift. The setting is structured and team-oriented, with defined workstations and established safety procedures. Enjoy a consistent full-time schedule with opportunities for overtime based on production demand.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Virginia Beach, VA.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $18.00 - $18.00/hr.
