Key Job Details – Roanoke Respiratory Therapist

• Assignment Type: Travel (Locum Tenens)
• Healthcare Setting: Hospital – Adult Respiratory Therapy Unit
• Location: Roanoke, VA 24014 (Virginia respiratory therapist jobs)
• Contract Duration: 13 weeks (September 8, 2025 – December 8, 2025)
• Shift: 3x12-hour day shifts (07:00 – 19:00), every other weekend required
• Hours per Week: 36
• Estimated Weekly Salary: $1800-$1840

Registered Respiratory Therapist Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of recent experience as a Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) in a hospital setting
• At least 1 year of previous travel healthcare assignment experience
• Critical care experience required (high volume ER, Level 1 Trauma Center preferred)
• Proficiency with Epic charting system
• Experience with all modes of mechanical and non-invasive ventilation, nitric oxide delivery
• Familiarity with respiratory therapy equipment: Servo I, V60, Nitric, 3100A, 3100B, Jet ventilators
• Active Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credential by the National Board for Respiratory Care
• Licensed Respiratory Care Practitioner by the VA State Board of Medicine (temporary 90-day authorization available for out-of-state candidates)
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications
• COVID-19 and Flu vaccines required (medical/religious exemptions considered)

Respiratory Therapist Responsibilities

• Deliver high-quality respiratory care to adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients in a fast-paced hospital environment
• Manage and operate advanced respiratory therapy equipment, including mechanical ventilators and non-invasive ventilation devices
• Participate in ventilator management and liberation protocols
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams, including Rapid Response and Respiratory Services
• Provide care for patients with neurotrauma, cardiovascular, and critical medical/surgical diagnoses
• Document patient care using the Epic electronic medical record system
• Work every other weekend and at least one holiday during the assignment
