Job Description: The candidate is responsible for material research within government databases and with commercial vendors to support work specification development and material identification for Navy vessel maintenance and repair. Candidate will be familiar with, and conduct, all facets within supply chain management to include, but not limited to: research, estimating, requisitioning, procurement, expediting, warehousing, packaging, and shipping of long lead time material on behalf of government.
Job Duties:
- Conduct material research in government databases including, but not limited to, SAI Global, OneTouch, Haystack, FedLog and FedMall
- Identify and research material with lead times greater than 30 days and communicate to planning department for work specification development
- Capable of material identification and review within technical manuals, Advanced Parts Lists, drawings and references for Naval repair
- Knowledge of reading, referencing and analyzing work specifications
- Identify National Stock Number material items using SAI Global, Haystack and OneTouch
- Develop professional relationships with other industry vendors to support material sourcing for non-National Stock Number material items
- Submit Request for Quote or Request for Estimate to industry vendors to assist with material sourcing and estimation
- Knowledgeable in latest DFARs/FARs requirements to support material procurement on behalf of the government
- Be proficient in the development of purchase orders to support service and material procurement for multiple engineering departments
- Perform all functionality with a supply chain management process of identifying, tracking and procuring material on behalf of the government
- Process entry of identified long lead time material into the Material Requirements (MRQT) database
- Warehouse inventory including maintaining acceptable and accurate inventory levels; reporting shortages, overages, and all inventory levels monthly for replenishment; classifying, labeling, locating, and warehousing all inventory for future use.
- Assemblage of material designated on packing slips/orders for material; packaging and labeling material for shipment; receiving incoming shipments of material; retrieving packing slips, routing incoming material to cognizant requestor or area; retrieving invoices for signature when necessary; documenting receipt of material.
- Document all work within Microsoft Access database
Job Requirements/Skillsets:
- Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication
- Must be flexible to accommodate priority shifts
- U.S. Navy surface ship or shipyard execution experience preferred
- In-depth experience in ship logistics maintenance practices preferred
- Experience with use of the Navy Maintenance Database (NMD) and Material Requirement (MRQT) Database is strongly desired
- Familiarity with purchase order system(s) is preferred
- Must be capable to conduct market research using web-based search engines and government databases such as SAI Global, OneTouch, Haystack, FedLog and FedMall
- Proficiency in windows operating system environment
- Proficient with Microsoft Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, Access and Excel
Education: Individual shall possess a high school diploma or GED, trade or industrial school, or graduate of military technical “A” and “C” schools. Bachelor’s degree preferred. Must have a minimum of two (2) years of experience working in supply chain management, logistics support and customer service. Any experience in technical and supply manuals/aids, drawings, and reports associated with shipboard/military systems preferred.
Security Clearance/Naval Facility Access: U.S. citizenship required. Must be able to meet and maintain eligibility for U.S. Secret Clearance and/or be able to access military facilities, naval shipyards, and private shipyards.
