Based in Northern Virginia
(Fredericksburg, Charlottesville, Richmond, Hampton Roads)
UNITE HERE Local 25 is a militant, rapidly-growing union organizing hospitality workers in the DMV area and across Virginia. With over 7,500 members, Local 25 has organized, fought, and won life-changing contracts for hospitality workers. The workers represented by our union have used their collective power to win some of the best union contracts for hotel workers in the world, and to be on the frontlines of fighting for democracy and justice in the nation’s capital.
In recent years, workers have been building the union throughout Virginia. Along with UNITE HERE Local 23, workers in Virginia have organized and fought for more in casinos, hotels, and university cafeterias, growing UNITE HERE’s membership from 8,000 to 12,000 in the past five years.
Building worker power in Virginia requires a broad movement of rank-and-file leaders ready to stand up to the rich and powerful. With the vision of building the labor movement in Virginia, UNITE HERE Local 25 is seeking Organizing Apprentices to join our campaigns in the hospitality industry.
Organizing Apprentices play a critical role in driving campaigns and receive intensive training on leadership development, transformational relationship building, and creation of worker committees. Our apprenticeship program allows you to get hands-on organizing training with mentorship from organizers experienced in taking on multinational corporations and winning.
