Your impact

Our top ENR-ranked Ports & Maritime team is seeking a Structural Engineering Intern. As part of the role, you’ll have the chance to work with our global multi-disciplinary team of engineers working on ports and maritime projects all over the world. Working with other members of the team, you’ll be involved in the design, analysis, and delivery of projects ranging from local waterfront projects to international multi-billion-dollar port developments. We also focus on the development of projects that make our waterfront communities more resilient to the impacts of climate change, from sea-level rise to coastal storm surge. We provide solutions to the developing offshore wind industry which directly impact energy transition in the US. In addition, you will have the opportunity to gain valuable field experience on infrastructure development projects in the Virginia Beach area.

You will have the chance to assist in the delivery of our portfolio of exciting waterfront projects working as part of an integrated and forward-thinking team with the opportunity to learn from and assist key specialists. Your key responsibilities will be to:

  • Learn and engage in the design of maritime structures from urban waterfront parks to ports supporting offshore wind farm developments, and more
  • Contribute to the preparation of design drawings, calculations, technical memorandums, technical specifications, and design reports for the successful delivery of our projects
  • Perform site visits and field inspections and support in the preparation of field reports
  • Work collaboratively across the various disciplines and s within Jacobs to further develop your knowledge while being a key part of our project delivery teams projects
  • Take part in Jacobs culture

Here's what you'll need

  • In pursuit of a Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering with an emphasis on Structural Design
  • Must be at least a rising Junior
  • Working knowledge of Revit or AutoCAD, and Bluebeam Revu
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office specifically Word and Excel

Ideally, you’ll also have:

  • A minimum of 3.0 GPA
  • A previous internship, or professional work experience related to your field of study
  • Demonstrate experience with structural analysis programs such as STAAD, Etabs, SAP2000, or other finite-element based structural analysis program
  • Authorization to work in the United States without the need for visa sponsorship, now or in the future

40,000.00

Posted Salary Range: Upper

70,000.00

The base salary range for this position is $40,000.00 to $70,000.00; though will be paid hourly based on hours worked. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
