This contract opportunity offers the chance to work in person with a supportive educational community, with the option to discuss virtual (VOCO) arrangements if needed. You’ll play a key role in equipping students for success through individualized instruction and advocacy.

Key Qualifications:

• Hold current certification as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI) in Virginia
• Demonstrated ability to effectively teach Braille to students of varying ages and abilities
• Experience collaborating with general and special education staff to support students’ unique learning needs
• Strong communication and organizational skills
• Commitment to fostering independence and accessibility for students who are blind or have low vision

Primary Responsibilities:

• Provide direct instructional support for students who are visually impaired, adapting curriculum materials and teaching Braille as required
• Assess students' visual and academic needs, developing and implementing individualized educational plans in partnership with the IEP team
• Serve as an advocate and resource for students, staff, and families regarding accessibility and accommodations
• Travel to assigned sites within the local area as needed (three days per week, 7.5 hours per day, totaling 21 hours weekly)
• Maintain accurate documentation and participate in IEP meetings, progress monitoring, and team discussions
• Support transition planning and the development of independent living skills for students
