SUD Clinician - Young Adult (1308)

We are seeking a full time compassionate and skilled Substance Abuse Clinician to work with young adults (ages 16-24) experiencing substance use challenges, with a focus on providing trauma-informed care.
Responsibilities
This clinician will be responsible for conducting comprehensive substance abuse assessments, providing individualized and group counseling, and making referrals to community resources. The clinician will work across the agency departments to provide support to young adults in the adult recovery and prevention services, children services and ID/DD services. The clinician will apply evidence-based treatment modalities, including the American Society of Addiction Medicine (ASAM) criteria, while ensuring all interventions are sensitive to the impact of trauma on the clients substance use and mental health. The ideal candidate will be experienced in both substance use and mental health treatment strategies and be committed to supporting young adults in their recovery while prioritizing a trauma-informed approach.
Required Education and Experience
Masters degree in human services or related field.
Fully licensed through the Virginia Board of Health Professions or registered in the state of Virginia with license eligibility.
A minimum of one (1) year position related clinical experience with adults, children and adolescents providing individual and group therapy.
Preferred
Up to three (3) years of additional experience with crisis intervention.
Any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the required knowledge and abilities.
OR
Masters degree in human services or related field with a CSAC designation.
A minimum of three (3) years position related clinical experience with adults, children and adolescents providing individual and group therapy.
Preferred
Additional experience with consumers in the criminal justice system and experience with crisis intervention.
Any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the required knowledge and abilities.
Valid Drivers License with a point balance of -6 or higher.
Required Knowledge, Skill and Abilities
Understanding of trauma-informed care principles and their application in substance use treatment.
Strong knowledge of ASAM criteria and substance use treatment modalities.
Familiarity with evidence-based therapeutic techniques like CBT, MI, and trauma-specific interventions.
Ability to build rapport and trust with young adults, creating a safe and empowering therapeutic environment.
Knowledge of community resources for young adults dealing with substance use and trauma-related issues.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively with colleagues and community partners.
Fingerprints, State and FBI criminal record reports, drug test, and central registry report will be required upon selection.Our Agency maintains a drug-free workplace.
Annual Salary Range
Grade C9 for Licensed Eligible. $60,863.00 - $68,471.00.
Grade C11 for Licensed. $69,356.00 - $80,916.00.
